This is another branch of the Express Entry program adapted by the Canadian Government in January 2015. To be considered under the Canadian Experience class, a candidate (a skilled worker) must have a Canadian work experience and want to become permanent residents.
To meet the minimum requirements for this program, one must have:
- Work Experience: 1 year of a skilled work experience in Canada within the last 3 years before applying. The job has to be a full-time (or equivalent part-time), experience legally gained AND falls under one of those NOC (National Occupational Classification) categories:
- managerial jobs (skill level 0)
- professional jobs (skill type A)
- technical jobs and skilled trades (skill type B)
Excluded work experience: Self-employment, and work experience gained while you were a full-time student (such as a co-op work term)
- Language ability: As needed for the job – CLB7 for NOC 0 or A jobs and CLB 5 for NOC B jobs
Education-wise, no specific requirements are set for this program but definitely having a certificate, diploma or degree enhances the CRS score (Comprehensive Ranking System), which in turn increases your chances of being chosen from the pool of candidates.
The candidate of this program, like any other foreign national interested in becoming a Permanent Resident must meet essential criteria, which is being admissible to enter and remain in Canada. One thing to keep in mind is, if the chosen province of residence is Québec, different rules apply (under the Québec skilled workers class).
Finally, once the candidate is in the Pool of Candidates, and based on the CRS points, he might be sent an Invitation to Apply (ITA) for the permanent residency within a specific period of time.
