How the system works:
Similar to the other Canadian provinces, Manitoba has its own provincial nominee streams and operates its own Express Entry like system. An applicant must create an online profile with Manitoba Immigration – Expression of Interest (EOI) where his profile will be placed in what is called a pool of candidates and is ranked based on selection factors.
Having ties to the province (close connections) such as relatives, previous study or work experience in Manitoba will rank higher. Once invited to apply to Manitoba PNP, a candidate must submit an application for permanent residence with Immigration, Refugee, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC).
Manitoba PNP selection factors:
Under the Manitoba Skilled Worker and International Education Streams, applicants are assessed and ranked on six selection factors. These six selection factors evaluate your ability to successfully establish yourself in Manitoba. Manitoba PNP also assesses the likelihood you will reside in the province upon completion of your application.
- Language proficiency: Applicants with higher official language test scores receive additional points
- Age: Candidates between the age of 21-45 receive maximum points
- Work experience: Four or more years of work experience will be ranked highest
- Education: The higher the education, the more points the candidate gets
- Adaptability: A close relative and/or work/study experience in Manitoba will add additional points
- Risk assessment: If you have worked or studied in another province, this will actually subtract points from your application
