Québec Experience Program PEQ – Changes to the Québec Immigration Regulation

Great news to the international students in Québec. After the temporary suspension of intake of applications under the Québec Graduates stream of the Programme de l’expérience québécoise (PEQ) that was in effect from July 10, 2019, to November 1, 2019. This Wednesday, October 30, 2019, changes to the Québec Immigration Regulation came to light.

Effective November 1, 2019, Québec graduates can again submit applications for permanent selection (CSQ) under the Québec experience program (PEQ).

Québec diplomas admissible under the PEQ

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Master’s Degree
  • Doctorate (PhD)
  • Diploma of College Studies – Technical
  • Vocational Diploma, with or without attestation of vocational specialization, obtained consecutively, attesting to a minimum of 900 hours of study
  • Attestation of Vocational Specialization attesting to a minimum of 900 hours of study
  • Attestation of College Studies attesting to a minimum of 900 hours of study

A list is being generated for eligible attestations or diplomas. This list contains the areas of training in Québec that best respond to job market needs. Note that this list does not apply to students who were already in Québec by Nov 1, 2019. Those are still eligible to apply for a CSQ whether their study program is included in the list of not.

Candidates must also have completed a minimum of 900 hours of full-time study in Québec or, if their attestation or diploma attests to more than 1,800 hours of study, they must have lived in Québec for at least half of the duration of their study program.

Lastly, for study programs of 900 hours to less than 1,800 hours, candidates must have 6 months of full-time work experience, in Québec, acquired after their study program and in their area of training.
