Be prepared!
On January 1, 2023 at 9:00 AM, applicants will be able to submit their Permanent Residence applications under these two programs:

Home Support Worker pilot
Applicants must be aware that there are some changes for this year and to pay attention to the CAP that may be filled within a short time after the program opens.
Changes to the pilot caps
Only a certain number of applications will be accepted each year. In 2023, numbers are as follows:
Home Child Care Provider Pilot
- Gaining experience category: 1,650 applications
- This includes 1,500 online applications and 150 alternate format applications.
- Direct to permanent residence category: 1,100 applications
- This includes 1,000 online applications and 100 alternate format applications.
Home Support Worker Pilot
- Gaining experience category: 1,650 applications
- This total includes both online and alternate format applications.
- Direct to permanent residence category: 1,100 applications
- This total includes both online and alternate format applications.
The cap tends to fill up very fast so applicant need to prepare their forms/supporting documents in advance. Refer to this IRCC website for more information/instructions.
There will be instructions on where to create an account, documents checklist, and it is recommended that applicants fill out the forms (in pdf format) in advance. They are also able to pay the fees in advance. However, should they do not manage to submit the application on time, a refund can be requested.
If applicants need accommodations, including for a disability, they can ask for the application in another format (paper, braille or large print). This is starting January 1, 2023, and not before.
What happens if the cap is already full when an applicant apply
- Online applications – the applicant won’t be able to submit the application and it will expire in 30 days.
- Alternate format applications
IRCC will update its website when this cap is full. IRCC won’t accept and will return any applications they receive after the cap is full.
