On August 9, 2019, and in one of its attempts to grant a smooth transition for immigrants, the Government of Québec has announced the implementation of a new personalized integration program.
The later comprises of providing assistance to newcomers by The Ministère de l’Immigration, de la Diversité et de l’Inclusion (MIDI) covering several aspects before and after arrival to Québec.
While still overseas, the immigration applicants will be invited to contact an integration assistance agent whose role is to provide information about all the services offered by the Government, including French courses, information sessions on Québec, etc.
When immigrants land, they will be welcomed by a MIDI employee, which in turn will arrange for a meeting with the integration agent at a later date.
This personalized path includes, but not limited to:
- Settling in: housing, practical life, etc.
- Francisation: assistance with registration for French courses, financial assistance, etc.
- Employment: comparative evaluation of Diplomas, information sessions on labour market and job search, etc.
- Community life: information on Québec’s values and democratic values, etc.
The new Path is being introduced gradually, but very soon will be covering all areas in Québec.
