Over a three-week period, between October 13, 2020 and November 3, 2020, Canadian citizens and permanent residents of Canada who wish to sponsor their parents and grandparents to live permanently in Canada were able to submit an Expression of Interest (EOI) to sponsor via a form (online).
The next step is by the Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC), which will randomly select potential sponsors and send them an invitation to submit an application. This will be by conducting a lottery in early 2021.
The PGP lottery was planned to take place by the end of 2020, but a number of reasons, including the global coronavirus pandemic, it will now be early 2021. Invited applicants will then have 60 days to submit their complete application.
